Planck scientist
within Esa's Planck Surveyor
Satellite mission, and an associate researcher of the
Italian National Institute for Astrophysics (INAF) for astrophysical imaging in Esa's Euclid mission. My current
scientific interests are SAR image processing, technologies for the safeguard and study of
cultural heritage, and computational biology. I have been serving as the chair
(2010-2014) and a member of the steering committee of the
Ercim working group on multimedia
understanding through semantics, computation and learning (Muscle). I am a fellow of the Electromagnetics Academy, a senior member
of the
IEEE, Signal Processing
Society (affiliate to the Image, Video, and
Multidimensional Signal Processing technical committee) and a member of the
Italian Society for Communications and Information Technology (Aict-Aeit). From 2018 to 2023, I
have been an associate editor of the IEEE Transactions on Image
Processing. I attended the Master School in Communication of Science
in Trieste, Italy, and wrote a few journalistic papers and other
contributions in communication of science.
I retired on 1st November 2024.
